It wasn’t that we didn’t see this coming. It was only that The Corruption spread faster than anyone could’ve anticipated. You heard rumors of sunglasses kiosks that seemed to run themselves. Or you would get strange messages late at night that felt nearly so human. Some people even made a joke of it. Talk to your friends to infect them with messaging! We all had a good laugh. We weren’t ready for the Girlbots. We weren’t ready for everything to change.

The world has fallen to ruin as a plague known as The Corruption has wiped across the planet. Those that succumb are turned into Girlbots – uncanny androids who devour everything in their path. You are a weary traveler who spends your days scrolling the streets and leaving graffitied messages for your mutuals in arms. You can only hope that each new day brings less of these ravaging monsters. You’re only trying to survive.

Hashtag Girlbots is an extremely silly game that's meant to make the tumblr bot infestation less of a nuisance. It's a love letter to the site I grew up on and is played entirely through tumblr. No dice or cards needed. Just a blog and some friends to make wacky little posts with.

URLs, bios, and emojis are used to determine the type of girlbot you're up against and how much damage it's capable of doing to you. Choose your clan and band together to fight the infestation off. Play solo or leave posts in the "hashtag girlbots" tag to help out your mutuals.

Is it balanced? Probably not. But when has anything on tumblr ever worked right?
